Services Strategy

In implementing the ‘National Services' NZSTA recognises that meeting and resourcing strategic priorities will have primacy for member subscriptions and other non government funded outputs; it will do so by ensuring that

1.      Services available to member boards is differentiated from services available to all school boards

2.      Services to members has priority for member subscription funding

3.      Regional executives are fostered and sustained in their representational role

4.      The value to boards of NZSTA membership continually improves

This document defines “National Services” as required by the NZSTA Constitution
and sets out the strategy for their implementation.

National Services” means services to be provided to members by NZSTA as defined by the NZSTA National Council.

‘National Services’ include:

1   Governance support services that are exclusive to Members

2   Policy and Advocacy that is independent, credible and of high integrity

These key definitions are further defined as follows

1   Governance support services that are exclusive to Members

All member boards will have access to support regionally and nationally that will empower them and enable them to govern effectively. The support is to be developed and defined in conjunction with the regionally constituted bodies of NZSTA.

1.      NZSTA has coherent and robust models of effective practice.

2.      Member boards have access to consistent quality, range and level of service irrespective of location or region

3.      Governance support is of a range and type appropriate to member boards’ needs.

4.      Governance support recognises the needs of Maori trustees

5.      Governance support recognises the needs of Pasifika trustees

2   Policy and Advocacy that is independent, credible and of high integrity

NZSTA will become the respected lead advocate both regionally and nationally of improved student and school performance through school self governance.

1.      Policy and advocacy is independent and of high integrity

2.      Policy and Advocacy positions are highly credible
