Maori Immersion Teachers’ Allowance Variation
Secondary Teachers’ Collective Agreement
The Parties to the STCA (the Secretary for the Ministry of Education and the NZPPTA) agree to the following variation to the STCA.

4.19 Mäori Immersion Teacher Allowance - Current
4.19.1 All full-time teachers required to use Te Reo Mäori in approved Mäori immersion programmes for at least 31% of their time shall receive additional salary at one of the following rates:
(a) For provisionally or fully registered teachers – the equivalent value of one unit per annum as established by 4.1.1 (b); or
(b) For unregistered teachers - $1500 per annum.
4.19.2 The employer shall attest to the eligibility of the teachers for this allowance according to the Ministry of Education’s Mäori language resourcing criteria.

4.19 Mäori Immersion Teacher Allowance
4.19.1 All teachers required to use Te Reo Mäori, for at least six hours per week, in approved Mäori immersion programmes at levels 1, 2 or 3 shall receive an allowance based on the equivalent value of one unit per annum as established by 4.1.1 B. This allowance shall be pro-rated for part time teachers (based on the teacher’s total hours).
4.19.2 The employer shall attest to the eligibility of the teachers for this allowance according to the Ministry of Education’s Mäori language resourcing criteria.
Notes:
For the purposes of this change, “teachers” eligible are registered teachers (including PRTs and STCs) , a limited authority to teach issued by the NZ Teachers Council.
