Community of Learning | Kāhui Ako: Recruitment Resources

Community of Learning Roles




Leadership Role

This role will be appointed for an initial fixed term period of up to two years, and has been established to provide leadership in building productive collaboration within the Community to facilitate agreement on and meeting of shared achievement challenges, and to support the professional growth of leaders and teachers. The employing board will receive additional 0.4 FTTE staffing entitlement for the period of the appointment to enable the leadership functions to be fulfilled.

Primary Schools: A Principal appointed to the Community Leadership role will receive an allowance of $25,000 per annum for the duration of the fixed term.

In addition, a $2,500 allowance is available for up to two Principals allocated specific leadership responsibilities (as determined by the Community of Learning’s Achievement Challenges) for a fixed term period of up to two years.

Area Schools: There are two approved arrangements for the appointment of an Area School Principal to the Community Leadership role within a Community that has an Area School(s):

(a)    One Principal appointed to the Community Leadership role will receive an allowance of $30,000 per annum; or

(b)   (i) One Principal appointed to the Community Leadership role who is paid an allowance of $25,000 per annum;     and

       (ii) Up to two Principals appointed to undertake other leadership responsibilities within the Community who are     entitled to an allowance of $2,500 per annum.

Secondary Schools: A Principal appointed to the Community Leadership role will receive an allowance of $30,000 per annum for the duration of the fixed term.

Teacher (Across Community/Between Schools) 

This role will focus on improving teaching practices to meet shared achievement challenges. These roles will promote best teaching practice across a Community. Teachers appointed to this role will receive an allowance of $16,000 per annum for an initial fixed term of up to two years. The employing board will receive additional 0.4 FTTE staffing entitlement for the period of the appointment to enable the functions of the role to be fulfilled.

Teacher (Within School)

This role will focus on promoting best teaching practice within a school. They will work directly with other teachers including those who come from other schools in the Community to help identify and respond to challenges in practice and support Community objectives. Teachers appointed to this role will receive an allowance of $8,000 per annum, and this role can be appointed for either a fixed term (for up to one year) or permanently. The employing board will receive additional 0.08 FTTE staffing entitlement for the period of the appointment to enable the functions of the role to be fulfilled.
