Initial Teacher Education Review
In 2007, the New Zealand Teachers Council began the review to establish requirements and a process for the approval, continuing approval and monitoring of ITE programmes. The overall aims of the review are to strengthen the quality of graduates entering the profession by increasing the effectiveness of the approval and monitoring processes for ITE programmes.
As the people who employ graduating teachers, your views on the review are crucial.
As the consultation document is long and complex, NZSTA has prepared a submission based on the well documented views over recent years of Boards and Principals, that you may draw on in preparing your own if you wish to.
The Teachers’ Council consultation document is available at: http://www.teacherscouncil.govt.nz/education/ite-approval-review.stm
The return date for responses is Friday 30 October 2009. You can either:
