2006 study award winners

Angela Burge has served on a school board for more than 1½  years and is currently on the board of Ramarama School in Auckland.  Angela proposes to conduct research about parental involvement in primary schools.

Debra Dorrington is serving her third term on the Point Chevalier School board of trustees.  With the study award Debra is going to research effective means to curb vandalism in the school community.  Debra’s expectation is initially that this information will be useful in curbing vandalism within the school in the short term, but that implementation of the ideas will, over the long term, provide the community with less of a problem.

Rosalind Cox has served on a school board for three years and is the chairperson, parent elected trustee at Windwhistle School.  Rosalind proposes to continue her Bachelor of Business (majoring in Employment Relations).  The skills Rosalind will gain from this degree will lead the board successfully into the future.

Joanne Bain has served on the New Plymouth Girls High School board for three years.  Joanne is using her study award to assist her to complete her Graduate Diploma in Business Studies (Dispute Resolution).  The skills Joanne will gain from this diploma give her the opportunity to pass on the skills to resolve disputes in a non confrontational manner to classroom teachers, students etc.

Lisa Wilson has served on Nawton School Board of trustees for the last 1½ years.  With the study award Lisa is going to research indigenous medium language revitalisation programmes and governance procedures in education.
