Professional Development for Newly Elected Trustees 2013

NZSTA has been contracted by the Ministry of Education to coordinate the delivery of professional development sessions, to new and returning trustees, throughout New Zealand.

Effective Governance - Welcome aBoard is targeted at newly elected trustees, and returning trustees who need a refresher, to understand the board's governance role, its obligations to students, and its primary focus on raising student achievement for all students.

These sessions are free to all trustees.

FREE Professional Development for NZSTA Member Boards 

The National Board of NZSTA has approved a further budget for 2013 to be spent on professional development for member boards. During 2012 almost 3000 trustees attended 168 sessions delivered free to member boards from Kaikohe to Invercargill and Gisborne to Hokitika. These sessions will be FREE to all 2013 NZSTA Member Boards.  Non Member boards are welcome to attend at $110 including GST per participant.

These 2 hour, face to face sessions, delivered by an NZSTA Approved Facilitator, have a maximum of 30 participants, to ensure every trustee has the opportunity to be involved in discussion and ask questions relevant to their board's needs.  They also provide a great opportunity to network with trustees from your area.

Individual Professional Development

Board Chair Training Voyage 2013

NZSTA in association with the Spirit of Adventure Trust will be running a 3 day, weekend voyage, to provide Board Chairs with leadership and governance sessions covering key areas of responsibility and legal requirements of the role. 

Student Trustee Challenges 2014

Once again NZSTA is running the very popular residential challenges for student trustees, January 2014, in association with the Spirit of Adventure Trust and the Outdoor Pursuits Centre. Dates are yet to be announced.

Trustee Accreditation

NZSTA wants to offer trustees of member boards the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to strengthening school governance by becoming a NZSTA Accredited Trustee.
