Individual Professional Development

Do you realise NZSTA can offer you a lot more than our scheduled workshops?

A local NZSTA approved facilitator can make a presentation to your board at your school.  Professional development can be arranged at a time to suit your board members, at your choice of location, and to suit your time-frame.

Individual Board Professional Development

This is a great opportunity to have your whole board hear the same message and discuss your particular issues with the facilitator, ask questions relevant to your board.

There are many reasons you may want individual professional development for your board:

  • New / inexperienced board
  • First time principal
  • New board following a commissioner being placed in the school
  • Moving from good to great
  • Help with issues raised by ERO review
  • Reviewing your policies; vision; student analysis data
  • The list is endless ...........

Group Cluster Professional Development

We can also arrange for a session to be presented to a small cluster of boards in your area at a shared cost.  There may be a topic that is relevant to a small number of boards in your local area.   If you can get two or more boards together our facilitator will come to you and you can share the costs.

Mentoring

Sometimes you need a shoulder to lean on for a short time.  A facilitator will work with an individual board member or perhaps a committee. Maybe you need:

  • Guidance and direction for a new chair
  • Somebody to sit in on a board meeting to provide some direction
  • To work through an issue raised by an ERO review
  • Advice on your policy or reporting processes

Mentoring or coaching can take place at a board meeting, over a coffee, or by email or phone.
