You may have heard or read about the recent law change, the Education Amendment Act 2019. One important change for boards is that anticipated changes to their strategic planning and reporting requirements have now been pushed out to the 2023 year.
For your board the law change means “business as usual’ until 2022. Requirements for boards to have charters, 3-5 year strategic plans and an annual plan remain as they are until 2022 when the transition process to the new planning and reporting framework will commence.
So for boards right now “business as usual” means:
- Term 3 2019: community consultation in term 3 (unless completed in 2018)
- By 1 March 2020 submit updated charter to the Ministry of Education including the usual supporting documentation:
- strategic plan
- annual plan
- 2019 analysis of variance
- By 31 May 2020, submit 2019 Annual Report to the Ministry of Education
- By 31 May 2020, publish Annual Report on website controlled by your school. Note: If your school has no website please get in touch with the Ministry of Education here for an alternative way to report to your school community.
