How we help you

Te Whakarōputanga Kaitiaki Kura o Aotearoa’s role is to lead and strengthen school governance. We are the only organisation in New Zealand whose sole focus is supporting and assisting school boards to achieve the very best educational outcomes for their students and communities.

Our advice and support services are highly regarded in the education sector and we deal with approximately 1800 queries from board members every month. So whether you’re new to your governance role, or you’re a ‘seasoned’ school board member, Te Whakarōputanga is here to support you!

Our advisors

We operate a centralised Advisory and Support Centre, which is staffed by advisors who can help provide immediate assistance for governance and employment matters, as well as directing you to guidance resources and learning opportunities.

The Advisory and Support Centre is your first port of call for assistance.

We also have a team of Regional Advisors, who work from our respective regions throughout New Zealand, providing a more personalised and in-depth service for complex and ongoing governance and employment matters.

All of our advisors have extensive governance and employment knowledge, and many have ‘real world experience’ from having served on a school board themselves.

They can help you with:

  • Board elections
  • Community consultation
  • Employment and HR matters
  • ESS – Emergency Staffing Scheme
  • Health and safety
  • Individual and collective employment agreements
  • Organisational change
  • Policies and processes
  • Roles and responsibilities
  • Strategic planning
