About the role

Employment Advisors in our Advisory Support Centre (ASC) are the first port of call for our members. This involves advising, supporting, and providing school boards and their delegates with timely and accurate advice on employment enquiries to promote effective employment practice in schools. 

The variety and breadth of this role as well as the opportunity to work on a broad range of ER and HR enquiries will keep you busy and stimulated. The advice and support you provide will directly strengthen school boards and improve the overall quality of governance and education provided to students across New Zealand. 

These are permanent, full-time positions (40 hours per week) based in our national office in Lambton Quay, Wellington. Flexible working arrangements are also a consideration for these roles.

About you

  • ER/HR experience with relevant qualifications or work experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building capabilities
  • Strong customer service delivery ethos
  • Calm under pressure, resilient and empathetic to deal with a wide range of sensitive and complex enquiries
  • Able to prioritise workload and competing demands
  • Ability to interpret legislation and other relevant provisions and policies
  • Proven ability to participate as a positive, effective team member
  • High degree of professional integrity and ability to remain impartial and confidential are essential.
